Allied Powers

My name is Chris Still and I’m just a child during this World War II. I’m currently 10 years old. I was born on January 13, 1930. I enjoy being a kid and hanging outside and playing with my friends. My mom says she doesn’t want me leaving the house too far because the war that is in place, something could happen to me.
The year is now 1940, and many countries are becoming allies with the opponents of Hitler and Germany. This included France, Poland, and Great Britain. In school we are having discussions about what is going on around the world in this war we are going through. My teacher, Mrs. Hurditle had a lesson on allied countries and powers. Allies are those nations that were fighting against the axis powers. The US had a declaration called the “Atlantic Charter”. It was signed by those countries who became allies around 1940 (Danzer 554).
After the US got bombed at Pearl Harbor, many things then changed. Not only did the US want to be allies to defeat Hitler, but also we wanted to get back at the Japanese and bomb them. Some countries that became allies included the US, Great Britain (UK), Russia, Canada, China, Australia, India, South Africa, and New Zealand. Countries included in the British forces included Poland, France, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Finland (“Allies” 1).
My teacher told us “Almost every country played a role in the war that could be construed as having some kind of major effect, which is why it is a truly a global conflict (“Countries” 2). It is said that there are 51 total allied countries. The weird part is France was split both ways. The southern part of France was loyal to axis powers, and northern France was allied (“Countries” 3).
